Missing Alzheimer’s Patient – Richard Parker Still Missing
Officials in Brown County say they are scaling back efforts to find Richard Parker, an elderly man who has been missing since April 25.
Parker, from Aquilla in Hill County, had been missing almost three weeks when the Brown County Sheriff’s Office got the case.
“We have been running full blast ever since,” said Brown County Sheriff Bobby Grubbs.
Over the last week, dive teams from the Department of Public Safety have searched Lake Brownwood. Texas Parks and Wildlife has used sonar equipment on the lake, and teams from the DPS have searched the area around Mountain View Lodge with cadaver dogs and helicopters. Deputies from the Brown County Sheriff’s Office have searched the area on horseback.
So far there has been no trace of Parker.
Witnesses last saw Parker, 76, about 5 a.m. April 25 as he drove into Mountain View Lodge. They told authorities Parker left his pickup near a boat ramp but was too disoriented to move it.
The witnesses said they helped him park his truck in a parking space at the lodge.
Grubbs said there was evidence that Parker may have gone into a travel trailer at the lodge because they found opened Dr Pepper cans, an unmade bed and a pair of men’s tennis shoes.
“We found some black tennis shoes inside the travel trailer,” Grubbs said.
If the shoes belonged to Parker, “there is a chance he could be barefooted,” Grubbs said.
The intensive search has been called off, and officials hope witnesses will call in any new leads.
“It is a situation we will just keep working,” Grubbs said. “We are hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.”
Parker was last seen wearing a short-sleeved plaid shirt, dark blue jeans, black tennis shoes and wire-framed glasses. He is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds. Parker suffers from dementia and needs medication for Type 1 diabetes.
Anyone with information should call the Brownwood Law Enforcement Center at 325-646-2525 or 911 if the information is of immediate nature.
Juan Marchizano Found
A missing 30-year-old man with Down Syndrome was located around 8 a.m. this morning by a woman who recognized Juan Marchizano after seeing his photo on the local news.
Marchizano was at a gas station in the 3300 block of Aldine Mail Route in Houston. He is in good medical condition and was returned to his mother.
Marchizano was missing since 4 p.m. Sunday, and Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office deputies began searching for him after a call from his mother Monday morning.
In the past, he has been known to walk away from his group home and will walk to the Walgreens located near Hwy. 6 near Bissonnet but always returned home after a few hours.
Richard Parker Still Missing
The weekend’s search of Lake Brownwood brought Brown County Sheriff’s Office no closer to finding an elderly man missing from his home in Aquila, Texas.
Richard Parker, 76, has been missing for just over three weeks and officers are asking the public for help, said Lana Guthrie, Sergeant Criminal Investigations Division of the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.
“We want everyone to be reminded that he’s still out there somewhere,” Guthrie said. “Maybe someone’s seen him or knows something.
Witnesses last saw Parker about 5 a.m. Sunday, April 25, where they said they saw him drive into Mountain View Lodge as they arrived. They told authorities that Parker left his pickup near a boat ramp but was too disoriented to move it. The witnesses said they helped him park his truck in a parking space at the lodge.
Divers have searched the lake and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice brought bloodhounds to run the park again this weekend. Officers put dogs on boats to sniff the waters, but they found nothing.
“We didn’t have any luck this weekend,” Guthrie said. “Any tip we get, we’ll follow up on."
At this point, she said all officers can do is continue their search and hope the citizens can offer more leads to investigate.
Parker was last seen wearing a short-sleeved plaid shirt, dark blue jeans, black tennis shoes and metal-framed glasses. He is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds. Parker suffers from dementia and needs medication for Type 2 diabetes.

Richard Gary Parker Missing
WACO (May 11, 2010)—The search for Richard Gary Parker, 76, was focused on Lake Brownwood Tuesday evening after Hill County authorities learned that the missing Aquilla man’s pickup truck was found at a private lodge there.
Parker hasn’t been seen since driving off on April 24 from his home the 1900 block of Farm-to-Market 933 in Aquilla.
Parker suffers from dementia and has Type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.
Family members said he desperately needed medication.
Relatives were en route to Lake Brownwood Tuesday where they said they would search for Parker’s body.
Parker’s truck had been parked for at least several days at Mountain View Lodge at Lake Brownwood, which is about 120 miles from his home.
Employees didn’t notice it until last week and had it towed on Friday.
The towing company notified the Texas Department of Public Safety, which later checked the license number and discovered the truck belonged to the missing man.
The DPS contacted the Hill County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday.
Authorities don’t know whether Parker is dead or alive and his whereabouts are still a mystery.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office has checked hospitals in the area without success.
Family members said earlier that the pickup in which Parker drove off had a full tank of gas, but because he hadn’t driven in several years, they thought it was unlikely that he had gone far.
They spent days knocking on doors and driving down seldom-traveled rural roads in an effort to find the missing man.
The Hill County Sheriff’s Office checked out several leads on the missing man’s whereabouts without success.
