Phyllis Lucille Adcock Found #alzheimer

BOILING SPRINGS, S.C. --

A Boiling Springs family can breathe a little easier since Phyllis Lucille Adcock, a 79-year-old diabetic with dementia, was found Tuesday after being missing for two days.

Adcock disappeared on Sunday afternoon.

A report was filed with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, who issued missing posters to the media and tracked Adcock’s cell phone pings to try and find her.

The office also issued posters to surrounding law enforcement agencies because Adcock’s family believed she was headed to the Etowah area of Henderson County, where she used to live.

At about 4 p.m. Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office said, Landrum Police Officer Dennis Brown saw a vehicle matching the description of the one on the missing poster.

A woman who looked like Adcock was driving. Adcock, Spartanburg deputies reported, parked at the Southside Smokehouse BBQ restaurant at 726 Howard Street. Brown found Adcock inside.

A statement issued by the Sheriff’s Office said that Adcock was in good health and being reunited with her family.

“Our thanks go out to Officer Brown who had received the missing person poster on Mrs. Adcock and used that information to locate her,” Tony Ivey, public information officer with the Sheriff’s Office said.

An 80-year-old DeLand man with Alzheimer's disease was found in Orangeburg, S.C. three days after he was reported missing, officials said.

McKnight was driving on a set of railroad tracks and acting confused, when local law enforcement located him.

Bodies of Missing Staton Coulpe Found. Arrest Made.

Anderson County Sheriff said that a suspect he identified as Matthew Fulbright was arrested in the murders of Homer L. Staton, 72, and his wife, Jo Ann Staton, 69, whose body was discovered early this morning in rural Anderson County.

Skipper said that Fulbright led authorities to her body. He said that robbery was the “initial motive” and that the suspect and victims likely knew each other.

“I believe they had done business before,” Skipper said.

The couple was last seen Friday night at a buffet restaurant three miles from their condo on the Pebble Creek golf course, two days before Chip Staton's body was found.

The couple's black 2007 Toyota Corolla was found off the roadway at a pasture gate on Horton Road in Belton on Saturday, Major said.

A hearing aid was found inside along with blood on the car's interior, Major said. Staton died of blunt-force trauma, Anderson County Deputy Coroner Don McCown said.

Authorities searched the area by air and on foot and used a dive team to search a body of water near where the car was found, Major said.

Friends described the retired couple as high school sweethearts and empty-nesters. Chip was a former ranger at the Pebble Creek golf course. Neighbors scheduled a private vigil Wednesday night.

Chip Staton was retired but traveled the state, buying and selling jewelry, and investigators were looking into whether he might have been robbed, Major said.

Major said he didn't know where the assault took place.

Authorities found no sign of struggle or break-in at the couple's condo, Greenville County Sheriff's Master Deputy Melissia McKinney said.

The search continues for missing family patriarch three years on

KERSHAW COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Tuesday marks three years since an Alzheimer's patient went missing in the Midlands.

Coley Patterson, Sr. Walked off from his sister's home in Kershaw, never to be seen again.

Despite the odds, Patterson's family believes he is still alive and they aren't giving up hope.

Patterson was 79 when he went missing back on Oct. 13, 2006. His sons still remember the call from their aunt.

"She called me an hour later and said, 'I can't find your father,'" said Coley Patterson, Jr.

"Just sort of wandered off. Within 20 minutes, he had disappeared," said Herbert Patterson.

The sons remember when their father was front page news. They remember when the entire community along with police searched the area.

"A month later, we found a couple articles that belonged to him: a hat and a shoe," said Herbert.

The recovered hat and shoe, along with knowing they searched deep into the woods for their father, gives them hope.

"We actually believe he's still alive to this day. Our father, someone picked him up, thought he was a hitchhiker. He's in a surrounding town that no one's aware this person is missing or someone is looking for him," said Coley.

The Patterson sons are hoping someone recognizes Coley and helps bring the family patriarch back home.
