Robin Colts Body Found
Body found in Organ Mountains identified as missing Las Cruces woman Robin Colts
LAS CRUCES - A badly decomposed body discovered Monday in the Organ Mountains has been identified as Robin Colts, investigators told her family this morning.
Colts, 46, was reported missing from her family's home in the 6700 block of MacArthur Road three months ago. Her sister, Deborah Vincenti, said Colts walked away from the residence - shoeless, wearing thin clothing and without her medication - after reporting she'd been hearing voices. Vincenti said in February she offered to take her to the doctor, but Colts declined.
Vincenti hung up when reached Thursday morning for comment.
Doña Ana sheriff's investigator Bo Nevarez declined to say if any members of Colts' family are being questioned in connection with her disappearance or where her body was found.
Colts' nephew, James Scott Mojarro, 25, of the 6700 block of MacArthur Road, was indicted this morning on an unrelated charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm - one of two weapons Vincenti bought two weeks before Colts' disappearance.
Deputies were called to Mojarro's residence March 21 after he and his girlfriend allegedly got in a fight, and got what appeared to be a handgun from under his mother's bed as he made suicidal comments, according to documents filed in court by investigator Nevarez.
Vincenti allegedly told police she'd bought the handgun - which she wouldn't show to police - for protection after her sister went missing, according to court documents. However, records indicated she'd
bought a .45-caliber semi-automatic and a 9 mm semi-automatic on Jan. 27, two weeks before her sister disappeared. She'd even told investigators that the day of Colts' disappearance, she and her son had gone out target shooting with the guns in the desert, according to court documents.
The investigation is ongoing.
