Missing Rideau Lake Man Found Safe

RIDEAU LAKES — An 82-year-old man with Alzheimer's disease, who went missing early Sunday morning, was found unhurt a short time later in a wooded area near his home.

The man had left residence to feed birds in his backyard, according to police. However, he then wandered off into an area north of his County Road 42 residence.

Front-line OPP officers, the OPP canine unit and emergency response team (ERT) members worked together and were able to find the man about a half mile north of his home about 90 minutes after being called in.

He was tired, cold and hungry when located, but did not require any medical attention, said OPP Const. Mike Cholette.
